Training In Bike Building For Community & Voluntary Groups

Traject Info

Rothar has led a number of workshops with youth groups in the Dublin area. We bring old bicycles and teach young people referred to us by the youth groups how to repair or build a bike. The workshop's duration is generally 1 and a half hours, and generally lasts 8 weeks. Those workshops have been very successful both for Rothar and the young people involved.

In light of the demand it was decided to propose a training for trainers and build the capacity of the local
youth and community workers in order to work towards mainstreaming those workshops. As part of the
training package, Rothar will be the support agency for the local staff as well as the main supplier for the bike parts needed throughout the project.

We are exploring the possibility of having the programme accredited for the young people, which would be a step towards their renewed involvement in education. We are also working with other organisations looking after ex offenders, homeless people, asylum seekers etc. Any information please contact Anne
